Support the Bulletin

One good reason to support the Bulletin: People listen. Policy makers, scientists, and citizens all over the world rely on the Bulletin--and our signature Doomsday Clock--for clarity about complex threats to humanity from the misuse and abuse of powerful technologies in a violent world.

From a small publication founded and distributed by a group of scientists who had worked on the Manhattan Project, the Bulletin has become a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit publishing and communications organization.

The Bulletin is a powerful antidote to the 'dumbing down' of marketable content that underestimates the intelligence and receptivity of policy makers and the reading public."

When we moved the Doomsday Clock in January 2007 from 7 to 5 minutes to midnight, the symbolic end of civilization as we know it, the news was an international media event--drawing reactions from world leaders and nuclear specialists including Mohamed ElBaradei, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar, who has worked for decades with former Sen. Sam Nunn to reduce nuclear stockpiles in Russia.

Generous donors and subscribers support a magazine that won the 2007 National Magazine Award, our online digital publishing service, events and symposia, an annual award for journalists, and a fellowship program.

With scientific rigor and journalistic integrity, the Bulletin directs attention to new opportunities to reduce nuclear dangers, address the climate crisis, and alert policy leaders and the public to the potential for harm from engineered biological agents.

Tax-deductible contributions make it possible for the Bulletin to limit costs to journalists, researchers, educators, and subscribers. More than 80 percent of the Bulletin's revenues are directed into program areas to support the writers, scientists, experts, and editors who organize and produce the information needed by policy makers and citizens.

Confusion is dangerous. Ignorance is worse.

Your contributions have an impact on the Bulletin's capacity to clarify choices and consequences--on issues of human survival and global sustainability.

Please give generously. Thank you.
